NEW YORK CITY | September 20, 2019 – New York City recording artist Linda Marie Fischer launches her second album Passages today. Delving into a new sound of upbeat pop and electronic dance influences, the release presents a window into the complexities of living, especially if you’re a woman. As Fischer sees it, everyday living, as simple as it looks, is a multifaceted psychological and physical experience.
Fischer’s message in Passages is to find a way back to yourself and your desires, regardless of age. She sings about the future and dreams to be, from taking time for simple pleasures to the exploration of new interests, passions, and joys.
“The music begins with a butterfly image of the youth leaping into their new lives,” said Fischer. “It quickly becomes more complex over the years with women aging and some feeling they may have become material ghosts. But it’s a female life, and the search for freedom continues. The album closes with a poignant song about the evolution of family and how the young again strike out on their own, carrying their nest.”
Taken together, these tracks explore different stages of a person’s life. Fischer explores social expectations in a world where people devote years to their families, careers, and other matters, often with little time for their own needs and desires. “At some point, it’s time to make room for yourself,” Fischer said. “That’s part of living, too.”
Departing from her easy-listening sound, Fischer explores new genres and sonic elements on Passages, notably leading with pop/dance, and elements of electronic and EDM. “I love dance music; it’s so much fun. And so many times we are called upon to dance through life, and find joy, even in adversity.”
Full of driving beats and powerful themes, her sonic progression perfectly reflects the lyrical material of never holding yourself back.
Fischer worked with award-winning composer and musician Doug Oberhamer, who also recorded, mixed and mastered Fischer’s debut album Arc of Love in 2018. She will also be releasing a second album titled Places on October 4, 2019.
Passages is available everywhere today, including Spotify, Bandcamp, and Apple Music.
